Biography

| IIn the Spring of 2006 Ms. Brown returns to
the Metropolitan Opera Extra Chorus for Fidelio, Parsifal and Lohengrin. In
May 2005 she sang the role of Aline Solness in a new opera by Martin Halpern
entitled The Scaffolding. In April 2005 Ms. Brown played the role of Frau
Dorn in Center for Contemporary Opera’s production of Mario and the Magician
at the Sylvia and Danny Kaye Playhouse. In 2003 Ms. Brown appeared in the
Metropolitan Opera’s production of Benvento Cellini. In the 2002/2003 season
Ms. Brown appeared in the chorus of the Metropolitan Opera in its
productions of Fidelio and Les Troyens. In March 2001 Ms. Brown made her
Carnegie Hall debut in Bach's Magnificat with Mid America Productions and in
May she returned to Carnegie Hall to perform Haydn's Lord Nelson Mass. In
November she returned to Carnegie Hall to perform Handel's Messiah,
Britten's Ceremony of Carols and Michael Haydn's Magnificat. In June 2001
Ms. Brown performed an Albert Lortzing gala as well as Lieder composed by
Weil, Eisler and Dessau in Munich and Berlin produced by Elysium Between Two
Continents. In 1999 she made her debut with Chorale Connecticut in its
Mozart Requiem conducted by Dorothy Barnhardt that was performed in Choate
Chapel in Wallingford, Connecticut. Ms. Brown also appeared in concert with
Rockland Opera in "Shakespeare and Opera" as well as an opera quartet gala
for St. Joseph 's College in Rutland, Vermont. In 1997 Ms. Brown returned to
the Natchez Opera Festival to perform the role of Siebel in Faust.
Previously Ms. Brown sang the roles of The Sandman and The Dew Fairy with
the Natchez Opera Festival in its production on Hansel and Gretel and Kate
Pinkerton in its production of Madama Butterfly. In addition, she has had
the honor of performing the role of Lizzie Borden in a modern opera composed
by Mira Spektor entitled The Passion of Lizzie Borden which premiered at the
New York Women Composer's Symposium in Buffalo, New York . Ms. Brown also
appeared as Polly Peachum in Benjamin Britten's The Beggar's Opera which was
the debut production of The Hell's Kitchen Opera as well as the role of
Virtue in Hell's Kitchen's production of The Coronation of Poppea. Ms. Brown
is a native of Trinity, North Carolina and a graduate of The University of
North Carolina at Greensboro. |
